Hello!

I am Sophie, the founder of Ancienne London and I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and my little business. 

From a very young age I have had an obsession with jewellery which I definitely inherit from both my Mother and Grandmother. I remember being a child and looking on with joy whenever my Mum would bring the jewellery box out of the cupboard and try desperately to persuade her to let 5 year old me try on her gems and pearls. 

Perhaps the biggest inspiration behind Ancienne London is my Grandmother who used to go out and buy herself beautiful jewellery as little treats for herself and it made me think why shouldn't we all be doing the same?

Having gained experience in the antique world both through work experience and a Masters qualification in Fine & Decorative Arts at Sotheby's Institute of Art, I decided to set up Ancienne London to find and share these beautiful antique and vintage jewels with their new owners.

I think there is something truly romantic about the idea of a piece of jewellery being passed from owner to owner, each person adding a little bit of their own story to this beautiful items history. I also love how unique each piece is, whilst there might be others that are similar, you'll be hard pressed to find two identical. And finally, as we become a more eco conscious society, I appreciate the opportunity antique and vintage jewellery provides us with to be sustainable, these beautiful pieces are already in circulation meaning no new gold, no new gemstones just pre-loved items looking for their new owner to add to their story.
