Returns & Refunds
Refunds
Ancienne London offer a 14 day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for return, the item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, and in its original packaging.
To start a return, you can contact us at Returns@anciennelondon.com
If your return is accepted, we'll send you instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
Returns must be sent using Royal Mail Special Delivery (with insurance and tracking) to ensure it gets back to us safely. Unfortunately, we can't provide a refund for any items which are sent back to us by uninsured or non-recorded delivery if they become lost or damaged in transit.
Please feel free to contact us for any return question at Returns@anciennelondon.com
Damages and issues
We advise that you inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and, if possible, make it right.
We recommend that you take your ring to a jeweller and confirm that you are happy with the condition and quality within 14 days of its arrival. After 14 days the ring will become non-returnable. Additionally, if a ring is resized at an external jewellers, by the customer, it becomes non returnable and Ancienne London does not hold any responsibility for the ring.
Due to the fact that the rings are vintage, antique or preloved, stones may become loose or fall out and maintenance may be necessary on the ring over time. This will be at the customer's expense. Ancienne London does not hold any responsibility for the ring beyond the 14 day period after the ring has been received.
Item Descriptions
Because our rings are pre-loved, vintage or antique in the case of some rings, elements of the ring are older than others. A ring might be made up of vintage or antique gemstones but be recast into a new setting and band. Equally the setting and band may be vintage or antique but the stones replaced.
It is estimated that nearly 90% of gemstones in circulation today have been treated with one or more of the vast array of traditional techniques, most of which are still being practiced today. Customers therefore must assume that diamonds and coloured gem stones (including ruby, emerald, sapphire, peridot, aquamarine) may have undergone a form of treatment unless otherwise stated. It should not be assumed that any diamond or coloured gem is untreated or is natural, unless accompanied by a gemmological laboratory certificate (which would be mentioned in the description). Ancienne London will only describe gold/platinum/silver as such when a full UK standard set of hallmarks is present on the object unless the object is thought to be dated to pre 1975 and therefore exempt from hallmarking laws.
Some vintage and antique rings are fully hallmarked with their manufacturing date. Some aren't and in some cases hallmarks have worn off. For these rings the manufacturing dates on the listings are only an educated estimate/assessment and the buyer should take this into consideration. Refunds will not be issued (once the 14 day returns period has passed) for manufacturing dates not being accurate.
To fully authenticate a stone it has to be removed from its setting. Because we don't want the stones, claws and settings to be put through unnecessary work this isn't done. Therefore it is possible that on rare occasions mistakes are made and stones are not as described. The buyer should be aware of this. If a ring turns out not to be what it was described then a full refund will be issued. Ancienne London is not liable for any further compensation than this. It is recommended that the buyer gets the ring looked at by their own jeweller within the 14 day return period for their own reassurance.
